Britney Spears is finally celebrating her freedom after her conservatorship officially came to an end after 13 years. The pop superstar, who has been under the rigid control of her father Jamie Spears and his co-conservators since 2008, has endured a lengthy legal battle to try and claim her life back.

On Friday, the singer's lawyer Mathew Rosengart asked the court to end the conservatorship without a medical evaluation, a request granted by Judge Brenda Penny.

She agreed to terminate the conservatorship with no further mental evaluations required, telling the court : "The conservatorship of the person and the estate of Britney Jean Spears is hereby terminated.” The hitmaker is now able to make her own medical, financial and personal
