The Duke of Hastings isn’t the only character missing from Bridgerton in season two. It turns out that Francesca Bridgerton, played by Ruby Stokes, is too!
Showrunner Chris Van Dusen is opening up about the reason why Francesca only appears in a few episodes of the season. Click inside to read more… Speaking to TVLine, Chris revealed that Ruby was set to have a bigger role this season, after only making an appearance a handful of times in the first.
Francesca is the sixth Bridgerton child, following her elder brothers Anthony, Benedict and Colin, and sisters Daphne and Eloise.
She is just a bit older than Gregory and Hyacinth. According to Chris, Ruby had to leave after shooting just three episodes due to a prior commitment to another Netflix series, the upcoming detective thriller Lockwood & Co. “I love Francesca, but we lost her midway through Season 2,” he shared. “After exhausting all other options, she unfortunately had to come out due to reasons beyond our control.
