Bomb disposal officers seal off street after 'historic' grenade found at house

Bomb disposal units have sealed off a street in Burnage after police were called to reports that a suspected historic grenade had been found at a property.

Police were called at around 11am on Wednesday morning to reports that a device had been found on Cranwell Drive, close to the Tesco superstore.

The road has been cordoned off as bomb disposal teams prepare to carry out a controlled explosion. Residents have reported seeing two police cars, a police van, an ambulance and fire engine on scene.
