But the encounter was called off at around 1.50pm this afternoon after several pitch inspections took place amid rainfall in Salford.On the most recent inspection, the referee took to the pitch with a ball to check some areas of the Peninsula Stadium pitch which were causing concern.
And following discussions with both management teams, the decision was taken to call the game off in light of a waterlogged pitch.
