Blackpool Pleasure Beach punters stranded after Big One rollercoaster carriage breaks down

Punters were left stranded at the top of one of the peaks on the Big One, the biggest rollercoaster in Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The ride, which carries thrill-seekers at 85mph speeds around the twisty tracks and includes a 230ft drop, came to a halt shortly before 2pm this afternoon (1 September).

Blackpool Pleasure Beach has experienced high numbers of footfall as the summer holidays continue but now one group of customers have been left at a stand still.

One eye-witness has told LancsLive they believe that the ride has broken down. They said: "I spotted passengers from a car on the big one stationary on the platform near the end of the ride getting out of their seats.
