Korea Kelly, a friend of Burnett, said that she was “a Barbie, she was a goddess. Can you hear me? Fun.”“When I say goddess, she was everything,” Kelly, who is also a Black trans woman, said. “If you wanted to have a good day, you need to smile, Aerrion was the person you wanted by your side.”Kelly said Burnett’s death “hurts like hell,” adding, “It’s a pain that I can’t fathom.

It’s a pain that I don’t know how to fathom or to tell anyone how I’m feeling.”Burnett’s death comes almost nine years after her friend, Dee Dee Pearson, was murdered on Christmas Eve in 2011.Pearson, a trans woman, was shot.
