Black Lives Matter protester that replaced the statue of slave trader Edward Colston has been taken down. Bristol City Council workers appeared at the sight in the city centre at around 5.20am this morning to remove the unofficial artwork.Mayor Marvin Rees said the new statue, created by artist Marc Quinn which was put up in the early hours of Wednesday, was done so without permission.The council said it was removed at their request, adding: “It will be held at our museum for the artist to collect or donate to our collection.”Quinn’s lifesize black resin and steel piece of Jen Reid was inspired after seeing a photo of her standing on the empty plinth following the toppling of the Colston statue during a BLM protest.The sculpture, entitled A.
