North Lanarkshire is marking this weekend’s armed forces day by flying the flag for those giving their service.Airdrie North councillor David Cullen joined provost Jean Jones and council chief executive Des Murray to raise the flag at the authority’s Civic Centre headquarters in Motherwell.Planned events for national armed forces day this Saturday have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, but the council is still marking the occasion by flying the flag throughout this week.Armed forces champion Councillor Cullen, who himself served in the army, said: “Armed forces day gives us the chance to show our appreciation for the selfless sacrifice and dedication given to our country by our services both past and present.“No better example.
