AMC Networks CEO Josh Sapan has signed a contract extension with the company, keeping him at the helm of the owner of AMC, IFC, Sundance Channel and BBC America through the end of 2022.
Sapan, 70, was named CEO of Rainbow Media (AMC's predecessor when it was still owned by Cablevision) in 1995, and led the company's spinoff as its own publicly-traded company in 2011.
In 2019, Sapan was paid $20.2 million, a slight decrease from the year prior. His new contract keeps his base salary at $2 million, with a potential annual bonus of $4 million, and participation in the company's long-term incentive plan, with an annual value of "not less than $14 million." Notably, his new contract also allows for either the company or himself to elect to.
