Ally McCoist has called on Rangers and Celtic to 'get rid of the nonsense' when it comes to away fans at Old Firm clashes. Speaking on BT's Scottish Football Extra, the pundit discussed the atmosphere during Sunday's Scottish Cup semi final at Hampden.
Last month's Old Firm saw away fans allowed in for the first time since 2019.However, the away fan allocation was pretty minimum with Rangers chiefs handing just 700 tickets to their city rivals.
And now McCoist is looking for more when it comes to visiting fans at Ibrox and Parkhead. Appearing next to Chris Sutton on the debate show earlier, McCoist said: "How good was the atmosphere on Sunday, with two sets of old firm fans in that place [Hampden]. "These two clubs, get your heads together and get rid of the nonsense."Away fans must be allowed to travel to each other's grounds in numbers."The atmosphere on Sunday was magic."In response, Ally's counterpart Chris Sutton accused ex-Rangers man of always making everything about the Light Blues. After the chat swiftly turned from discussions based on Hearts to Hampden, Sutton was quick to but in.He said: "Ally dismisses any Hearts chat and gets straight on the Rangers and Celtic wagon again."Get all the latest Sports news sent straight to your Inbox every day by signing up to our newsletter. We cover every morsel of information regarding your favourite club in the form of articles, videos and podcasts. The newsletter will arrive every day at 12pm, giving you a round up of the best stories we've covered that in the last 24 hours. To sign up, simply enter your email address into the link here. And if you aren't already, make sure you join the conversation over on our Facebook groups and Record Sport Instagram.
