Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus across Greater Manchester now stands at 30. And the pandemic virus has now reached all 10 of our boroughs.

Salford confirmed its first case on Thursday, with three schools being closed, while a second case was confirmed in Tameside and a third in Stockport.

The Prime Minister today predicted 'the worst public health crisis in a generation'. Boris Johnson said: "I must level with the British public. "Many more families are going to lose loved ones before their time." Sir Patrick Vallance meanwhile, the Government’s chief scientific adviser, said between 5,000 and 10,000 people across the UK could be infected at the moment - with 'the most dangerous period' said to be some weeks away.
