Ex-Manchester United hopeful Adnan Januzaj has been released by Real Sociedad following an underwhelming stay. The 27-year-old was tipped for greatness after a breakthrough 2013/14 season at Old Trafford which saw him score twice on his first senior start against Sunderland.

He would later be loaned out to the then-Premier League Black Cats in 2016 after a temporary switch to Borussia Dortmund a year earlier.

But his failure to catch the eye at either club saw him shipped out to Real Sociedad in 2017 after five goals in 63 games for United.

Januzaj’s woes continued in Spain, enduring a meagre five years at the La Liga club in which time he failed to score double figures in a single season despite regular game time.
