Crimestoppers Scotland are urging people to learn to spot the signs of child neglect over fears abuse has surged during lockdown.The charity warn there may be a tsunami of ‘hidden’ cases of children suffering at the hands of parents or carers during the pandemic.Child abuse calls to the NSPCC have soared by 20 per cent since the nation was told to stay at home amid coronavirus lockdown.This has prompted fears of much higher levels of abuse happening behind closed doors than normal.Crimestoppers are warning it’s ‘better to be safe than sorry’ and are urging people to speak up anonymously if they have any suspicions or concerns.
