Young child and mum killed after crash between tractor and quad bike in Northern Ireland

A woman and child have died and a second child is fighting for her life after a road crash between a quad bike and a tractor in Northern Ireland.

It is understood those killed in the collision in Ballycastle in County Antrim were a mother and her daughter, with the woman named locally as Claire Smyth, in her 30s, reports The Belfast Telegraph.

Another child was injured in the collision on the Whitepark Road and airlifted to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast in a critical condition, according to the Mirror.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received an emergency call at 4.46pm on Tuesday (May 12). It dispatched two rapid response paramedics, three emergency crews, one doctor and two ambulance officers to the incident.
