It is 24 years ago this month that a Manchester United side on a formidable run of form travelled to The Dell to play Southampton.
Sir Alex Ferguson and his players had won 11 of their previous 12 in the Premier League and were storming towards the title.
But Southampton had different ideas. Goals from Ken Monkou, Neil Shipperley and Matt Le Tissier in the first half blew the visitors away, and only a Ryan Giggs consolation late on made things respectable.
The game was made more memorable, though, by United’s decision to change kits at half-time. They had started the game with a grey strip which, according to Ferguson, made it hard for his players to see each other.
