direct to your inboxPublic transport is expected to be busier than usual this weekend as students head home for the Christmas holidays.Those studying at the country’s universities have been given a ‘travel window’ spanning Thursday December 3 and Wednesday December 9.This is to allow students to visit their families over the festive period.It excludes students who have tested positive or been notified by the NHS test and trace system.But travellers have been warned that rail services - especially those spanning long distances - are expected to be busier than usual.Transport for Greater Manchester has issued a warning, tweeting: “'Public transport is expected to be busier than usual on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December, in particular.
