RB Leipzig’s Werner is indisputably one of Europe’s most sought-after players; he is outstanding in front of goal and has been for a number of seasons.
The 24-year-old is under contract at the Bundesliga club until 2023 but has a reported £50 million release clause, hence the interest from various clubs.
Crucially, that release clause is said to expire this summer and prising him away from Julian Nagelsmann’s title-chasing side after that deadline could prove hugely difficult and hugely expensive.
