Prince album under the late star’s alter-ego Camille, is set to be shared with the world by Third Man Records.In 1986, Prince wrote and recorded a self-titled album called ‘Camille’ under his short-lived feminine alter-ego, but it was scrapped shortly after test pressings of the finished album were produced.In a new interview with Mojo, Third Man co-founder Ben Blackwell revealed that the label are going to make sure ‘Camille’ finally sees the light of day.“We’re finally going to put it out,” Blackwell said, adding that he’d also got the green light from the late singer’s estate: “Prince’s people agreed – almost too easy.”All of the songs on the eight-track ‘Camille’ have been released in some capacity, but never in the same package and have often been tough to find online.A number of the tracks went on to feature on ‘Sign O’ The Times’, while the song ‘Rebirth Of The Flesh’ only appeared in 2020 on a Super Deluxe Edition of that album.The eight tracks to be featured on ‘Camille’ – which looks set to be released under the alter-ego, not Prince – are:‘Rebirth Of The Flesh’‘Housequake’‘Strange Relationship’‘Feel U Up’‘Shockadelica’‘Good Love’‘If I Was Your Girlfriend’‘Rockhard In A Funky Place’Last year, another ‘lost’ Prince album – ‘Welcome 2 America’ – was finally released over a decade after it was finished. Prince‘s estate has responded after the singer Morris Day claimed that he has been prohibited from using the band name The Time by the estate.Day, who regularly collaborated with Prince and still fronts The Time, issued a statement yesterday (March 3) which accused the late musician’s estate of blocking him from using the name Morris Day & the Time “in any capacity”.“I’ve given 40 years of my life building up a name and legacy that Prince and I came up with,” Day wrote in a statement on Instagram. “A name that while he was alive, he had no problem with me using.

Prince is no longer with us, suddenly, the people who control his multi million dollar estate want to rewrite history by taking my name away from me, thus impacting how i feed my family. So as of now, per the Prince Estate, [I] can no longer use Morris Day & The Time in any capacity,” according to the post.A representative for the estate disputed Day’s post. “Given Prince’s longstanding history with Morris Day and what the Estate thought were amicable discussions, The Prince Estate was surprised and disappointed to see his recent post.

Prince‘s estate may soon be reached, following court proceedings set to begin in February 2022.As reported by Billboard (via The Minneapolis Star Tribune), tax filings made in November of this year show an agreement was made as to the total value of Prince’s assets.Though the final figure hasn’t been disclosed at the time of writing, the amount is expected to be more than US$100 million (£75m). The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) determined the late singer’s assets were worth US$163.2 million (£122m), while estate administrator, Comerica Bank & Trust, countered that figure putting the number at US$82.3million (£61m).

Prince’s estate have shared a previously unheard demo of ‘Do Me, Baby’ – you can listen to it below.The release coincides with the 40th anniversary celebrations of the original release of Prince’s fourth album from 1981, ‘Controversy’.The 1979 demo is a complete song, performed entirely by Prince with multiple overdubs.
