Relieved Steve Clarke hailed Lyndon Dykes but then insisted Scotland will need to find a new hero to fire them into the World Cup play-offs.
The Scotland striker made it four goals in four games as he netted the winner to floor the Faroes late on in the Torsvollur Stadium.
It means Scotland now need to beat Moldova next month to clinch second spot and Qatar 2022 play-off. They, however, will have to do it without Dykes and Ryan Christie who are both now suspended after picking up their second booking of the campaign.
