Sound of Music actor Christopher Plummer has died at the age of 91. The Canadian actor, known for the role of Captain Georg von Trapp in the beloved 1965 musical, passed away on Friday, his agent confirmed.

Plummer had a varied and long-lasting career in the entertainment industry well into his later years, breaking records in 2012 when he picked up an Academy Award for the first time at the age of 83 for his supporting role in Beginners.

He also had a lengthy stage career, winning Tony Awards two decades apart for his roles in 1974’s Cyrano and 1997 play Barrymore.

The actor most recently appeared in Rian Johnson’s lauded 2019 murder mystery film Knives Out. Two years earlier, he notably replaced Kevin Spacey in All The Money In The World,.
