Scotland is set to lose two members of the House of Commons in a constituency shake-up across the United Kingdom. The Boundary Commission for Scotland will commence an eight-week public consultation from today on its initial proposals.
It has recommended 57 constituencies in Scotland which is currently two fewer than there are at present.In the shake-up Wales will lose eight seats, down to 32, Northern Ireland will remain at 18, while England will gain 10 which is up to 543.
Every seat in the UK must have no fewer than 69,724 electors and no more than 77,062 with the exception of Na h-Eileanan an Iar and Orkney and Shetland.
