Scotland's rules on gatherings explained as England gets set for crack down

coronavirus cases. From Monday, September 14, it will be illegal for more than six people to gather both indoors and outdoors.This is a significant climb down from the previous rule where 30 people were allowed to meet lawfully.

Anyone in breach of the law will be fined £100 by the police. This will then be doubled each time up to £3,200 for repeated offences.

Despite the rules being implemented by the UK Government, this will only apply to those living in England. The Scottish Government has so far given no immediate indication that it will follow its Westminster counterparts in restricting social gatherings amid the pandemic.
