Alexis Ohanian, who is the co-founder of Reddit, has announced that he has resigned as a member of the company’s board and he is urging them to fill his seat with a black candidate.

The 37-year-old entrepreneur is married to tennis player Serena Williams and they are the parents to a two-year-old girl named Olympia. “I co-founded Reddit 15 years ago to help people find community and a sense of belonging.

It is long overdue to do the right thing. I’m doing this for me, for my family, and for my country. I’m writing this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?’” Alexis wrote on his blog.
