Rangers plan Ibrox Disaster memorial as 50th anniversary of tragic event approaches

Celtic in January next year. Rangers will mark the occasion as they do every year with a minute's silence as well as laying a wreath at the memorial outside the stadium.

The John Greig statue has the names of the 66 supporters who sadly passed away in 1971 and Rangers plan on ensuring their memory lives on with respects paid next year.

It will be 50 years since the tragic event, which was the worst stadium disaster in the UK at the time when it occurred on January 2, 1971.

The club admit they won’t be able to guarantee exactly what is going to happen because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But they say they are planning additional match-day tributes around the clash at Ibrox to take place on January 2.They have also urged supporters.
