Ed Sheeran

Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.

The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

Radio 2 announces Piano Room Month live sessions

BBC Radio 2 has announced that it will broadcast a series of 20 new live sessions with artists including Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie, Jamie Cullum, Joy Crookes and Emeli Sandé.

Starting later this month, one session a day will air on Ken Bruce’s weekday morning show, with each performer backed by the BBC Concert Orchestra.Dubbed Radio 2’s Piano Room Month – because the sessions will be recorded in the Piano Room at the broadcaster’s Maida Vale Studios, see? – each artist will perform three songs each – one new, one old and a cover.All the performances will be broadcast live, aside from Ed Sheeran and Jamie Cullum, who are pre-recording their efforts.

As well as the live broadcast on Radio 2, a video of each set will also be available on the iPlayer for 30 days.
