Prince William carries out important final duty ahead of Trooping the Colour parade

Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, carried out an important royal duty on Saturday, ahead of the Trooping the Colour parade that will take place on Thursday 2 June, as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The annual event has marked the official birthday of the British Sovereign for over 260 years, and it is much-loved event in the British calendar, with royals gathering on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the Trooping the Colour RAF flypast each year.

Second-in-line to the throne, behind his father Prince Charles, Prince William has been taking on more and more responsibilities within the Royal Family on behalf of his 96 year old grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.The Duke of Cambridge, who is Colonel of the Irish Guards, carried out the Colonel’s Review at Horse Guards Parade, where he will give the final evaluation of the parade, before it is seen by the Queen, on Thursday.
