The United centre back was penalised for handball when Palace led 1-0, despite Jordan Ayew's shot being fired straight at his arm as he was running across to try and make the block.
To make matters worse David de Gea then saved Ayew's penalty, only for VAR to order a retake after he'd stepped fractionally off his line before the kick was taken.
