New Madeleine McCann disappearance suspect is German child sex offender

Police say the 43-year-old - who is not being named - may have kidnapped the youngster after breaking into the family's holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007.He is described as white with short blond hair, possibly fair, and about 6ft tall with a slim build at the time she vanished on May 3 2007.
Christian Hoppe, from Germany's Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), told the country's ZDF television channel the suspect is serving a prison sentence for a sex crime and has two previous convictions for "sexual contact with girls".
