Sir Keir Starmer has publicly apologised on behalf of the Labour Party for anti-Semitism that has plagued the party. The MP for Holborn and St Pancras was announced today (Saturday 4) as the new Labour Leader, taking the place of Jeremy Corbyn.
Sir Keir was a front runner for the spot and won with 56.2% while newly appointed deputy leader Angela Rayner finished with 52.6% of the vote.
While describing his new role as the "honour and privilege of my life," Sir Keir also used his acceptance speech to apologise for the 'grief' brought to Jewish communities.
After to paying tribute to 'friend and colleague' Corbyn, Mr Starmer said: "But we have to face the future with honesty. "Anti-Semitism has been a stain on our party.
