Kilmarnock schoolgirl Abbe Ferguson, who spent lockdown last year battling cancer, has thanked her unknown donor.A stem cell transplant saved the 13-year-old's life after a perfect match was found during the global pandemic hundreds of miles away in Europe.The donor’s cells were harvested at the height of the first COVID-19 wave last spring then flown across the Channel to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.Abbe, who hopes to become a cancer nurse one day, received the life-saving treatment in June 2020.Abbe spoke about the life-saving gift she received.She said: “It’s difficult to find the right words to thank my donor.
