Frenkie de Jong has told Barcelona he is 'open' to taking a pay cut to remain at the club amid Manchester United's interest, according to reports.

The latest development in the transfer saga is not the news that United fans wanted to hear, as reports from Spanish outlet AS (as per the Express) have thrown cold water over the potential move.

De Jong is reported to have told the La Liga club that he is willing to take a pay cut on his reported £360,000 weekly wage to remain in Spain.

The 25-year-old signed a bumper contract when he joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 and now it is reported the midfielder is willing to stay at the Nou Camp for a lot less than he initially agreed to.
