Manchester bar Mahiki has had its licence suspended after being found to be operating as a nightclub, against Government orders.The Polynesian-themed tiki bar on Central Street reopened on July 11 after closing in March when the national lockdown was imposed to curb the spread of coronavirus.Police and council licensing officers visited on the opening evening and initially found it to be 'operating in the style of a bar, with low level music, patrons all seated and social distancing being observed'.But when they returned at 2.30am, 'it was now operating in the style of what would be viewed as a nightclub, with patrons dancing, high volume music from the DJ, vertical drinking and customers ordering drinks at the bar,' a report to Manchester.
