A man walked into a takeaway with a gun and threatened to kill staff. The man was acting aggressively and abusive towards staff in the takeaway, on Stockport Road, in Longsight, on Monday, May 4.

He then told staff he was going to go get a gun and a knife. A short time later the same man returned to the takeaway and brandished a gun towards staff, telling them he was going to kill them.

He then fled in the direction of Longsight. Nobody was physically injured in the incident. Police were called to the scene at around 7.20pm.

Specialist officers were deployed to search the surrounding area. A 52-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear.
