It says a lot for the 37-year-old's enduring worth to the team on and off the pitch that Pep Guardiola would have liked him to stay beyond this summer.
Instead, Fernandinho is leaving to pursue more regular game time. He is expected to find that in Brazil, and has spoken about a desire to keep playing until he is 40.
