The suspect had been refused entry to a shop on Parker Street, on July 20 (Tuesday). GMP Special Constabulary made the arrest after the man allegedly spat in the face of the security guard, who the force stated, 'was doing his job'.

The suspect was said to be drunk at the time. A crackdown on spitting has come after a rise in 'intentional coronavirus transmission', including one man who was jailed for spitting at a police officer, who then caught Covid-19.
