Former Love Island contestant and ex-cop Mike Boateng has published an angry tirade against his former employer Greater Manchester Police, accusing the force and individual officers he has named of being racist.

The 24-year-old joined the force in 2017 and resigned in December 2019 to fly to South Africa to star on the hit ITV2 dating show.

He alleged, in a statement released on his behalf while the show was continuing earlier this year, that he had been 'subjected to racist behaviour during his initial training' after what he labelled 'false' stories emerged of his time as a cop.

GMP said it had investigated his complaint at the time and 'dealt with' officers - although they refused to say what action had been taken.
