Love Island contestant Gemma Owen has made it clear that she doesn’t want to be known just as famous footballer Michael Owen’s daughter as she prepares to join the show.
The 19 year old was announced this week as one of 11 new faces that will be joining the ITV dating series when it returns this month.
Fashion designer Gemma has established a successful career already as a young woman – having launched her own bikini brand this year – and wants to be regarded in her own right for her own achievements separately from her dad by fans tuning into Love Island.
Speaking on being linked to her sportsman dad, Gemma said in a video shared on the series’ Instagram page: “You want to have your own goals, you don’t wanna be known just as the daughter of someone.” Get exclusive celebrity stories and fabulous photoshoots straight to your inbox with OK!'s daily newsletter .
