Longsight 'arson attack': Horrified neighbours speak of 'orange fireball' after house targeted

Residents have spoken of their horror after a suspected arson attack at a house in Longsight. A blaze broke out at the terraced property on the A6 Stockport Road in the early hours of this morning (Saturday).

The police and the fire service now say they believe it was started deliberately. READ MORE: No one was inside at the time and thankfully no one was injured.

However, those living nearby have spoken of hearing loud bangs when the fire took hold, around 3:30am, with one saying there was a 'giant orange fireball' which lit up the back of the houses.

And they say they have been left feeling uneasy following the alleged attack, the motive for which is unclear. "I was sleeping and I heard a big bang and then a kind of rumble" said one
