iOS - Android While on leave from National Service with the RAF, romantic Pat chose to propose to Esther in the early hours of Christmas morning 1959, at the end of midnight mass at St Bride’s Church.While Pat was from The Circuit, Esther and her eight younger siblings had moved to Deans Avenue in Halfway, from where she was married.The couple tied the knot at St Cadoc’s Church on August 12, 1961. By their side at the service was Pat’s younger brother and best man, Charles, Esther’s sisters Martina and Winifred, who were bridesmaids, and the flower girl – her youngest sister, Anne.The newly-weds spent their honeymoon in Scarborough, where they were congratulated on their nuptials by the town’s mayor.
