Lankum are the winners of the 2019 RTÉ Choice Music Prize for Album of The Year with The Livelong Day. Chosen by a panel of industry experts tonight (March 5), The Livelong Day was selected to win the coveted trophy, which recognises the best music of the past year from artists and bands from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland/ Lankum beat out competition from Diathi, Fontaines D.C., Girl Band, Jafaris, Junior Brother, Maija Sofia, Mick Flannery, SOAK and Sorcha Richardson.
Folk group Lankum are from Dublin and signed to Rough Trade Records. The Livelong Day is the band's third studio album and peaked at Number 8 on the Official Irish Albums Chart last November.
