Intruder sprayed elderly man in the face with 'unknown substance' during robbery at his Wigan home

An elderly man was sprayed in the face with an unknown substance before being robbed in his own home in Wigan. The incident happened in Mosley Common at around 5.25am on Monday, May 11.

Police say an offender broke into the house in Lindale Road and sprayed the victim, believed to be in his 70s, in the face with an unknown substance.

He then stole a number of items. Paramedics who attended the scene confirmed the elderly man was not hurt by the substance. Officers say no arrests have yet been made an enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
