Oldham Mountain Rescue Team helped bring the woman to safety following the accident on the hills above Dovestone Reservoir on Sunday afternoon.
After being treated at the scene she was stretchered down the hill to a road ambulance which took her hospital.The rescue took around two hours and 20 minutes.In a post on Facebook OMRT said: "Another wet Sunday afternoon tea time call for the Team; this time North West Ambulance Service requesting assistance with the treatment and evacuation of a female who had fallen on a hill near to Dovestone and suffered a badly fractured ankle."A small number of team members were dispatched to locate and assess the casualty, which allowed the others to assemble and carry kit up to the cas site.
