Helen Mirren holds on to her Lifetime Achievement honor while on stage during the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (February 27).
The 76-year-old actress spoke to the crowd about the honor and revealed she owes her success to her personal mantra. “Lifetime Achievement, that sounds so grand.
I supposed I’m still alive so by that measure, I’m eligible,” Helen joked. “But honestly, any achievement that I’ve succeeded in is the result of my mantra, ‘Be on time and don’t be an ass.’” She added that she’s “simultaneously enormously proud, and yet I’m driven with the understanding that I absolutely do not deserve this.
And there is this conflict that I believe you all understand: insecurity versus ego.” “That cocktail that I believe most actors sip in the evening as they contemplate the wonderful gift they received the moment they decided to become an actor.” With this honor, Helen becomes the most decorated SAG Life Achievement recipient with a total of 13 SAG nominations and five SAG Actor wins to her name.
