School closures are still not being advised in the UK amid the coronavirus outbreak. The Prime Minister chaired an emergency Cobra meeting on Monday (March 16) followed by a press conference alongside the Government's chief medical officer Professor Chris Whitty and chief scientific advisor Sir Patrick Vallance.
During the conference, Boris Johnson introduced four new measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19. This including stopping non-essential contact by working from home and avoiding pubs, clubs and theatres.
In more extreme measures, groups particularly vulnerable to coronavirus will be asked to stay at home for 12 weeks by the weekend.
