Andrei Kanchelskis has explained that he joined Manchester City as he needed a place to get his fitness up after limited game-time for Rangers.

Kanchelskis was a star in Sir Alex Ferguson's first truly great Manchester United team in the mid 1990s and he helped the club win two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during a four-year stay at Old Trafford.

Kanchelskis then committed the cardinal sin of crossing enemy lines by joining City on a loan move in 2001. And he has explained the motive behind the move was his limited playing time
