Firefighters worry calls to stop burning waste in gardens are being ignored

Firefighters are concerned that pleas for people not to set fire to household waste seem to be falling on deaf ears. Last week, fire crews in Bolton and Bury dealt with two garden fires that got out of control and spread to people's homes.

Despite a stark warning issued by Paul Fearnhead, the head of prevention at Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), lots of people are apparently still setting fire to rubbish in their gardens.
