A large emergency operation was sparked in Platt Bridge at around 8.40pm last night (August 19).Fire crews, police officers and ambulance crews received reports of a person in the water in the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.But it has since been confirmed that nothing was found.Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were no signs of anyone in the water and Greater Manchester Police also confirmed that a body was not found.A GMFRS spokesperson said: “Fire crews were called to Platt Bridge, Wigan, at 8.40pm on Wednesday, 19 August, to reports of a person in the water. “Fire engines from Wigan and Eccles quickly arrived to the scene.
