A police detective who arranged to meet what he thought was an eight-year-old girl online has been jailed. Lee Cunliffe was arrested in October and suspended from his role as a detective constable when he was charged.
This week he pled guilty to multiple child sex offences after he was snared by undercover cops pretending to be a mother with an eight-year-old child who was offering her daughter up for sex.
Various messages were sent between the two where Cunliffe made numerous attempts to arrange to meet up with the mother and her child in London and sent inappropriate, detailed messages.
Details of the conversations were passed to Greater Manchester Police, where Cunliffe was stationed in October and he was arrested the same day as an investigation was launched.Officers searched his address and seized his devices which revealed that Cunliffe had sent the messages to the undercover officer from his workplace in Swinton and his home address.
