Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage (born March 5, 1963), better known by his stage name Joe Exotic, is an American former zoo operator, internet personality, musician, and convicted felon. The former owner and operator of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park (a.k.a. G. W. Zoo) in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, Maldonado-Passage had claimed to be the most prolific breeder of tigers in the United States. He twice unsuccessfully ran for public office, first for President of the United States in 2016 as an independent, and then for Governor of Oklahoma in 2018 as a Libertarian.

Dax Shepard has demanded TV bosses consider him for the role of Tiger King Joe Exotic for a new show based on the outrageous new Netflix documentary series. Shepard insists he’s the perfect person to portray the jailed big cat expert and he took to Twitter on Wednesday (March 25, 2020) to express his interest in playing Joe. “If I don’t get cast as Joe Exotic in the eventual biopic, Hollywood is broken,” he wrote as fans jumped online and supported his bid.
