'Daredevils' charged by police after allegedly scaling 100ft Kelpie statue near Falkirk

Kelpie statues near Falkirk. Emergency services raced to the scene at Helix Park shortly after 6.30pm amid reports of two men standing on top of one of the horse heads.

Pictures of the alleged stunt, obtained by the Daily Record, were taken by shocked onlookers at the popular tourist site.Police Scotland have now confirmed two men, aged 21 and 22, have been charged with culpable and reckless conduct.

Crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were also called to the scene but were stood down a short time later. A police spokesperson said: “Our officers responded to reports of two males climbing one of The Kelpies tonight. “As a result two males aged 21 and 22 have been charged with culpable and reckless conduct.
